Meet Your Therapist
Kara is a yoga therapist, somatic coach, trauma-informed specialist, teacher, and trainer. She has been facilitating transformational yoga and meditation experiences with groups and individuals for almost 20 years. She is deeply committed to designing inclusive experiences for diverse communities, and to helping you cultivate health, resiliency, and feelings of comfort and safety in your body, and joy in your experience of life. It is her mission to support you in becoming your most authentic and healthiest self through trauma-informed facilitation and embodied experiences. She is certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists and Registered with Yoga Alliance. She uses techniques founded in Yogic and Buddhist philosophies and practices, psychology, and neuroscience, including movement, dialogue, meditation, breathwork, and bodywork.
She also trains organizations and staff teams to embody trauma-informed practices in their work and with those whom they directly serve.
She has a Master of Public Health which she has used to teach youth all over Central Virginia to actively engage in their own wellness and to enhance statewide health initiatives for those experiencing food insecurity.
A truly embodied human, she also loves to immerse herself in nature through hikes, play in the river, tend to her houseplants and pets, celebrate life with family and friends, dance and create mixed media artwork.
